It’s party season! The meal is booked, the playlist is ready to rock but the outfit… not quite sorted. Don’t worry guys I’ve got you covered with my guide to dressing for party season.
I absolutely love dressing up for any kind of special occasion (probably because I spend most of my year at university not looking so glam) so I always look forward to this time of year. Although, I think sometimes it can be easy to lose yourself when it comes to dressing up. I know in the past, when I was in my teens and going to parties etc. I lost a bit of my personal style when it came to dressing up for events because I didn’t know how to combine my usual style into a “glammed up” version of myself (if that makes sense?).
I’ve always been expressive with my fashion choices but I’d often lose all of that and succumb to the typical girl-on-a-night-out look which just isn’t me at all. Anyway, since I’ve gotten slightly older I’ve managed to figure out how to incorporate my personality into more polished, dressed up outfits. And I’m super excited to share with you how you can do the same!
Nothing says party season like a bit of sparkle and some luxurious velvet, but that doesn’t mean that the only way to get festive is with a sequined/velvet mini dress! I’ve searched through some of my favourite online shops and magazines to put together a list of alternative ways to incorporate a bit of Christmas festivities into your party-wear which I’m hoping you’ll all enjoy- and maybe even find some inspiration for your next Christmas night out.
A great way to add a bit of flare to your outfit is to keep it simple everywhere other than your accessories. If you’re someone who isn’t totally comfortable dressing a bit “out there” this is the perfect way to try something new and maybe out of your comfort zone without losing your personal style.
I always think a smart look works so well during party season – sort of a “glammed up business” look. In my opinion you can’t beat a cool tailored outfit, leaving the boldness for your makeup e.g. a bold red lip.
I realised that pretty much every piece of clothing that I’ve included in this post so far is black…so I’ve added in a few absolutely stunning statement pieces to spice things up a bit.
I actually think this would look so cool with an all black outfit e.g. a black turtleneck and culottes, to really make the jacket stand out. Or if you’re feeling daring you could consider maybe even pairing the two together!
Thanks for reading! Let me know what you thought of the items I included and what your go to look for the party season is.
